Large Trucks
- We drive predominently new Mercedes Benz Atego and ISUZU trucks.
- Our trucks are 9 toners and 5 toners with a payloads of 6 ton (max 6 ton pay load) and 3 ton (max 3 ton pay load) respectively.
- All trucks are fitted with air suspension.
- Each truck has a tail-lift fitted with above standard safety poles and has a 2,5 ton lift capacity.
- All trucks are mostly un-marked for security reasons and have two satellite tracking devices installed per vehicle.
- Atex SPS take vehicle maintenance very seriously and our punctual regular services resulted in only two break downs over a period of five years.
- We currently have seven large trucks in our fleet.
- All trucks are fitted with communication devices to enable them to be in constant voice contact with our control room.
Bakkies
- Atex uses new various 1/2 ton bakkies as well as Hyundai H100 1ton diesel bakkies.
- The Hyundai bakkies are fitted with high load fibreglass canopies to easilly handle volume equipment.
- All vehicles are un-marked for security reasons and have two tracking devices installed each.
- Our bakkies are all fitted with communication devices to enable them to be in constant voice contact with our control room.
Forklifts
We use various forklifts from 2.5 ton juniors to 20 ton high-lift units depending on the type of work required. We make use of our business partner Mass Lift, who is also our neighbour, for this type of equipment. Forklifts are delivered to site and Atex SPS will always arrange for qualified and competent operators to do deliveries.
Crane Equipment
Certain delivery sites require Atex SPS to make use of mobile cranes in order to rig and lift heavy equipment into place. This is very specialised work and we have the right people to do these deliveries. The type of crane and rigging method are determined by the requirements of each individual job.

2.5t Tailift Jacks
- A Tailift (Tail-lift) can easilly be described as a hydraulic platform fitted to the rear of a truck that is manualy operated to lift heavy equipment onto and off the truck safely.
- Having a tail lift means you don’t need a forklift to load and offload heavy equipment.
- A tail lift fitted truck gives you a lot of versatility in loading options because you can manoeuvre the truck into awkward loading areas where you can move equipment over exposed holes, gutters, poles and similar types of obstacles.
- All our tail lifts are extended to 1.8m in length and 2.4m wide and all have a 2.5 ton lifting capacity.
- All Atex SPS Tail lifts are fitted with four heavy duty cargo poles that are inserted into the four corners of the platform and joined with a cargo strap to insure that heavy equipment on wheels can not run of the platform by accident when the tail lift is in operation. This is a unique feature that makes our tail lifts the safest in the industry!
Pallet Stacker Jacks
Atex SPS make use of highly manoeuvrable high-lift Pallet Stacker Jacks in areas where it is not possible to use a forklift because of accessibility restrictions.
The jacks has a lifting capacity of 1.5 ton and a lifting height limit of 1.6m which makes it ideal to lift most populated racks into position where access is difficult.
Pallet Jacks
Atex SPS use numerous standard 2.5 ton pallet jacks for normal pallet and rack moves inside trucks, at delivery locations and in our warehouses. It is probably the most commonly used lifting device with the most versatile usage potential.
Cargo Straps
Cargo Straps are an absolute necessity inside trucks and bakkies to secure and tie down equipment in transit, insuring that it does not move around and get damaged. We only use high strength nylon straps with industrial standard fastening mechanisms fitted to the straps to tighten them securely.
Corners
When equipment is tied down with cargo straps in a vehicle or on a pallet corners are used to protect the edges. It is either made from plastic or box that is formed to 90 degree corners and inserted under the cargo straps for protection.
Floor Protection
Atex SPS have devised a fantastic floor protection system that basically involves the construction of a temporary floor on top of your existing floor surface. We make use of large 20mm thick plywood sheets that evenly distribute the weight of equipment pushed over it. This makes it possible to move equipment of up to 2.5 tons over any floor surface without damaging it!
The success of this system is based on the ease of laying it down, the huge area it can cover and thus resulting improved speed of the move, saving you money in the end.
The system makes it possible to do heavy equipment moves over floor surfaces even as fragile as porcelain tiles.
Atex SPS also make use of “Masonite Sheets” consisting of 6mm poly ethylene plastic for general floor protection where equipment moved is not that heavy.
All trucks are equipped with a 2 -3 steel plates that is an old trusted way of crossing sharp floor ridges like door entrances etc.
Flip Nose Trolleys
This trusted, easy to use trolley is used where smaller boxes and inidivually wrapped equipment is moved in and out of buildings. It is especially useful in some instances where we are confronted with stairs.
Tilt Trolley
Certain delivery sites are very delivery "unfriendly" due to hight restricting obstacles like low door frames, fixed pipes, concrete columns and more. In order to find a solution for these problem sites Atex SPS developed a heavy duty "Tilt Trolley" that has the ability to hydraulically tilt fully populated racks low enough that it can clear height restricting obstacles.
The maximum clearing height of the trolley when fully extended is 1,8m and it can safely easily handle a cabinet up to 1.3 tones.
It is a very useful option to consider if you have a height resticted site and if the equipment you intend to move can safely be tilted without potential damage to server units inside the rack.
