ATEX SPS
Policies PDF Print E-mail

To guide and govern a company properly there need to be laid down rules that determine the framework in which the company has to operate.

Atex realizes that in order to function professionally it is ultimately important to incorporate such rules and guidelines in the business. It is necessary to govern the way in which to deal with staff, customers and the environment in a proper manner.

In this regard Atex addressed all our direct and indirect environments and drafted a series of company policies listed here that would clearly indicate the views and directions of our company.

We see ourselves as a good corporate citizen and therefore comply with all relevant legislation in terms of transformation and sustainability within South Africa.

BEE

Atex fully supports the South African Black Economic Empowerment (BEE) initiative.

To be in line with BEE standards Atex commissioned one of our business partners, SEESA to assist in the scoring process in becoming BEE compliant.

Atex is proud to announce that we received a level 2 BEE accreditation as of November 2008.

ISO 14001

The international ISO 14001 standard governs the way in which electronic waste needs to be stored, handled and disposed of.

These standards are based on environmentally friendly principles and ensure that electronic scrap metal, plastic and glass are processed and recycled in the correct manner.

Atex recycle electronic equipment as far as possible by refurbishing items and sending it back into the market. Equipment that can not be reused will be sent to electronic scrap recycling companies.

We have the policy only to use companies who are ISO 14001 accredited electronic scrap recyclers.

ISO 9001

In the constant strive of improving services to our customers Atex decided to change our processes in line with international standard as set out by the International Standards Organisation's ISO9001 quality standards.

We started the rating process in March 2009 and aim to be fully accredited with ISO before end of this year.

Receiving the ISO9001 accreditation will result in Atex being the most decorated and professional specialized logistics company in South Africa.

Social Responsibility Policy

Staying in line with current business trends of today Atex believe that it is important to be actively involved in community upliftment and is therefore constantly supporting various charitable and social organisations. We support the following organisations:

  1. Oliver's House (Charity): This is a Gauteng based charity that houses black orphans.
  2. Averyl Elizabeth Home (Charity): A Gauteng based charity caring for disabled children of all races.
  3. The Poetry Poets (Social): A Gauteng based poetry club founded by Mummy Modise for the upliftment of young black poets in society.

Customer Relations Policy

We know that we represent your company on site and therefore treat your customers and equipment like our own. This will ensure a long lasting business relationship.

Staff Relations Policy

At Atex we believe in our people. We realize their individual needs and look after them well. A happy worker is a good worker and we make sure of that.

Smoking Policy

Atex has a NO SMOKING policy in our warehouse and offices.

Security Policy

We believe that using more than one security company at a premises will significantly decrease the risk of theft or stock loss due to “inside jobs”. Atex is therefore using ADT Security who is responsible for the alarm system and armed response as well as 24/7 Security who supply a 24 hour premises and access control guard and patrol system also backed up with armed response.

Data Destruction Policy

In any event where Atex is responsible to receive, handle and destroy customer equipment that contains sensitive data it is our policy to treat these devices as “secret” and handle and store it under high security up to such a time that it has been destroyed.
